Dance Development Open Call
Northumberland Dance Development Fund - Open Call Applications are now open for the Northumberland Dance Development Fund, offering micro-grants of up to £3,000 to support dance projects across the county. Delivered in partnership by The Maltings, Alnwick Playhouse and Queen’s Hall Arts Centre, the fund supports dance artists and companies to develop new work, run workshops or residencies, and connect with communities - particularly in rural areas. We’re looking for projects that bring people together, reach new audiences and contribute to the development of dance in Northumberland.
Artist Residencies
Our residencies offer artists time, space and support to develop new work in Berwick - creating opportunities to connect with the town, its landscapes and its communities. We invite artists to spend time here at different stages of their practice, providing the freedom to research, experiment and create in response to place. Whether working independently or alongside local people, artists are encouraged to explore new ideas and approaches, with the time and support to let work evolve. Through this work, we support the development of new ideas while building lasting connections between artists, place and people.
Artist Studios
Our artist studios at Berwick Barracks provide dedicated space for artists to work and develop their practice as part of a growing creative community. Set within the historic Barracks, the studios offer a supportive environment alongside our wider programme of residencies, exhibitions and events. Artists based here become part of a wider network - connecting with the town, its landscapes and its communities. We currently manage five studios, with opportunities available through a waiting list, alongside a flexible space for short-term hire.
Visual Arts Archives
Our visual arts archive documents the exhibitions, artists and projects that have shaped our programme since 2011. Spanning over a decade of activity, it offers a rich record of work presented in Berwick - from major exhibitions to artist residencies - reflecting the evolving relationship between art, place and people.
