They have been watching, fascinated by the earth-dwellers.

A whisper on the waves heralds their arrival.

Prepare for an otherworldly encounter on the streets of Berwick.

For two days, join in a joyful and curious celebration between worlds. The Visitors are coming to meet you – are you ready?

On Saturday 30 May, meet the Visitors as they come ashore, joining them in their inquisitive and merry exploration of Berwick. From 12pm onwards, starting at Berwick Barracks.

On Sunday 31 May, join us at the shoreline on Spittal Beach for a fancy dress community picnic, and to bid farewell to our strange new friends. From 12pm-3pm. Bring your own picnic and seaside themed costume!

Lewis Hetherington is a Scottish performance artist, theatre-maker and playwright creating bold, socially engaged work that often unfolds beyond traditional theatre spaces. His practice explores identity, community and belonging, using humour, spectacle and participation to invite audiences into shared, often unexpected experiences.

Working across live art, performance and collaborative projects, Lewis’s work is rooted in place and shaped through deep engagement with local communities. He creates immersive encounters that blur the boundaries between performer and audience, encouraging people to reflect on how we see ourselves — and each other — within shared spaces.

Alongside his performance practice, Lewis is a playwright and co-founder of Fieldwork Performance and Constellation Points. He has worked with organisations including National Theatre of Scotland, Citizens Theatre, Platform Theatre, National Youth Theatre and Traverse Theatre, with his work touring internationally across China, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Australia, the US, Japan and beyond.
